What is Freemasonry ?
Freemasonry is an ancient fellowship of men which spans the globe. We are a society of men who enjoy each others company, continue the traditions of Freemasonry and agree that we should set an example by leading good, balanced lives. We place great value on supporting each other and the wider community; contributing both our time and monetary donations to charity is a natural bi-product of our philosophy.
Freemasonry encourages it’s members to learn about themselves and their place in the world, and to strive to uphold the values of honesty, kindness and fairness. Members take an active part in Lodge meetings where we explore and reinforce the values which Freemasons are expected to promote and uphold. “FREEMASONRY HAS ENCOURAGED ME TO CONSIDER ALTERNATIVE ARGUMENTS TO MOST THINGS AND HAS HELPED ME BUILD MY CONFIDENCE”
Becoming a Freemason means joining a global society that takes it’s social obligations seriously. It’s not just about meeting up a few times a year and having a good time, although we do have a lot of fun. It is about giving back to society and understanding that we should do what we can to help those who may, for whatever reason, be in a position less fortunate than ourselves.
“AFTER EXPERIENCING SOME DIFFICULT PERSONAL ISSUES I WAS HEARTENED BY THE NUMBER OF BROTHERS WHO REACHED OUT TO OFFER THEIR FRIENDSHIP AND MORAL SUPPORT“
What to do now ?
There is a popular misconception that you have to be invited to become a Mason, but this is not the case. We welcome membership enquiries from men who may have had no previous contact with Freemasonry and have an interest in what we do along with wanting to be a part of a unique organisation.
If you have an interest in Freemasonry in the Beverley, Hull and or wider East Riding area and would like to speak with one of our members we would be very pleased to arrange for you to do so. The first step is to send us an email with your contact details and a message so that we can arrange a meeting and talk through your enquiry. There is no pressure to join and you may wish to consider meeting members of our Lodge and joining us at a dinner to explore what Freemasonry is all about.
Contacting us couldn’t be easier, send us an email by clicking here and our secretary, Andy, will do his best to get back to you within a week.
